A Bit of Christmas Theatre

No, we aren’t talking about the family drama at Christmas dinner! Every Christmas our great local theatres provide wonderful holiday entertainment. Here are some of the plays you can find all over North Georgia this season:

In Marietta: At Theatre in the Square

The Christmas Family Classic: “Sanders Family Christmas” on the Main Stage. Set before World War II, this wonderful musical features bluegrass-gospel music and loads of fun! The play will run the entire month of December, Mondays excluded. (No show on Christmas Day, however.) This show is suitable for audience members over the age of 10. And just in case you are looking for something tried-and-true, this is the 13th season for this wonderful family-friendly show. Also from the folks at Theatre in the Square, the always popular “1940’s Radio Hour” is back! This show ran for 25 years at Theatre in the Square, and after a five-year break, its back again! This time, however, the performances will be at Southern Polytechnic’s Joe Mack Wilson Student Center. For more information: http://bit.ly/s0LJL7

In Blue Ridge: At the Blue Ridge Community Theater

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is the story of George Bailey who discovers in the midst of his greatest trial that he, indeed, has a wonderful life. How? With the help of an angel named Clarence who arrives on the darkest day of George’s life. Yep, this is based on the Frank Capra classic of the same name. In Cumming at The Cumming Playhouse: “It’s a Wonderful Life” from the Gypsy Theatre Company

The Gypsy Theatre will also be presenting the stage adaptation of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the Cumming Playhouse in Downtown Canton. December 1st through 18th on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For more information visit them here: http://bit.ly/u7AH2U

At the Holly Theatre in Dahlonega:

“A Tuna Christmas” This is the third in the “Tuna, Texas” series, where two men play all of the characters in the ‘third-smallest’ town in Texas. Dates at December 2nd through the 18th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. More here: http://bit.ly/uS9OHh

The Legion Theatre in Cartersville: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

On December 2nd and 3rd and 9th through the 11th, see the story of the Herdsman children, who are the ‘worst children ever’ who –instead of ruining the Christmas pageant (as expected- instead present a story of love and redemption to warm even Ebenezer Scrooge’s heart!
